About the INGOT's
Native American Proverb
The INGOTs are high quality and progressive certificates designed to promote assessment of the technical skills needed to operate popular office software.
The goal of the INGOTs is to provide an equivalent in ICT of the high expectations that we take for granted in written communication, and to enable students to learn about global ICT developments from first hand experience, giving them the potential to make useful contributions back to the community.
About the certificates
INGOTs vary in difficulty from Bronze to Platinum. The higher level certificates require participation in the OpenOffice.org community project supporting international citizenship and inclusion through learning by doing.
INGOT Academies have access to an increasingly large range of e-learning support materials to download and use freely.
Gold INGOT
The Gold INGOT assumes that there is secure capability at Silver level and builds on this in terms of breadth and depth of applications. An average student recently accredited at Silver level will take approximately 50 hours of further study and practice to achieve Gold level. Gold with Merit will take approximately 75 hours and Gold with Distinction 125 hours
Silver INGOT
The Silver INGOT assumes that there is secure capability at Bronze level and builds on this in terms of breadth and depth of applications. An average student recently accredited at Bronze level will take approximately 30 hours of further study and practice to achieve Silver level. When an accredited Silver INGOT assessor is satisfied that the student can competently match the criteria, a Silver INGOT can be awarded subject to an on-line validity check as part of the quality assurance procedures.
Bronze INGOT
The Bronze INGOT is an entry level certificate that requires about 10 hours of study and practice for a complete beginner. Achieving the bronze certificate is not age dependent but skills dependent. When an accredited Bronze INGOT assessor is satisfied that the student can competently match the criteria, a Bronze INGOT can be awarded.
