Year 7 Induction Day With The Holy Ghost Fathers and Just Youth
On Thursday 28th September, The Yr 7 forms enjoyed a day of activities in the hall
with a group of Holy Ghost Fathers and a team of volunteers called Just Youth.
This day was to welcome the new pupils into our school, to show them the qualities they have in themselves and to meet their fellow classmates. This day was an introduction to meet their fellow peers in their year.
The picture to the right shows Sixtus, a priest from the Holy Ghost Fathers, who brings his team of priests and volunteers for the days activities. I would like to thank all the Yr 7 pupils who took part in the Mass and all the parents who attended. All the Yr 7s are invited to Mass every Thursday from 8:15am in our newly decorated chapel in Miss Weld-Richard’s room.
It is not only the Mass that pupils are asked to help with, we also do a lot of charity work collecting not just money but food and clothing for different charities for example: - Cornerstone– A day care centre for homeless people allowing them to get a hot meal and even sometimes a warm jumper to wear in the cold weather.
ST Francis House - A hospice that looks after terminally ill people. Imibala– We also raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves at Somerset West Methodist Primary School. Cape Town, South Africa and through the charity organisation, Imibala. Last year our total charity collection was over five thousand pounds - another record breaking year.
CHRISTINGLE
Last year every Year 7 class participated in a Christingle Service. They thoroughly enjoyed it. We will ensure all Year 7 have the same opportunity this year.
Good for grades
Another good year for GCSE results– with 24% of pupils achieving an A-C grade in R.E. We have changed our course to a modular one and the results so far are amazing. Well done to the current Year 11, keep it up for June 2007
Hidden Gem
Last year’s trip to the Hidden Gem was so successful they invited us back! The pupils and congregation thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Come and support us on WEDNESDAY 29TH NOVEMBER Mass is at 12.30pm and the Carol Service at 1pm
We have also been invited to lead the singing at the Carol Concert at Salford Cathedral.
